BORN AND RAISED IN NEW YORK CITY

Valerie lives with her parents on the fifth floor of their private town house, just above the gallery, surrounded by art and a very exclusive selection of masterpieces.

Very early, she cultivates a passion for Art and is fascinated by her mothers exceptional collection of Art Nouveau and Art Deco antique jewels by Suzanne Belperron, Pierre Sterlé, René Lalique, Jean Fouquet… and many others… acquired from the most prestigious collections such as from the Duchess of Windsor. Very early in her life she is exposed to various international cultures which allows her to study the architecture of emblematic buildings such as the Chrysler which will inspire her later in her designs. With her parents she travels the word visiting the most beautiful museums. She will pursue her passion notably for old masters of the Renaissance which she particularly affections as she carefully studies the jewels worn by the noble men and women of the time. The most striking paintings to her are Leonardo’s « Ermine Woman » , « Las meninas » by Velasquez ,« The woman with the pearl » by Vermeer and the « Kiss » by Gustave Klimt. Her parents spend most of their time working hence very early they initiate their daughter to the beauty of antique jewels and the rarest precious stones. She pays careful attention to her parents' teachings and spends a lot of time observing the various craftsmen who work with them and develops a passion for diamonds which she considers particularly powerful.

valerie danenberg’s initiation to the family trade

Outside of school, Valerie spends all her free time in her parents’ shop and starts working with them by age 15. She then chose to assist her mother in the antique jewelry department entrusted to her and by supervising their various workshops. She develops the passion for their ancestral know-how and certain desuet techniques such as migraine setting. She works with their stonecutters to restaure the beauty of all shapes of diamonds, color stones, moreover ornamental stones such as Lapiz Lazuli, Onyx, Agathe, Roc crystal, green Jasper, which she also has engraved for signet rings.

She dreams of reviving all these antique techniques by reinterpreting and modernizing the lines of Art Déco jewelry into new designs that she imagines and draws. Furthermore she wishes to maintain the family tradition of her parents and crafts men with whom she continues to work, which later led her to introduce her own daughters to the trade.

1985

her destiny is confirmed

She develops her talent by designing and creating new jewels for clients who bring in their old jewelry that they wish to transform. She creates a pair of earrings and five extraordinary rings from a client’s out of fashion brooch. Her clients are enchanted to be able to wear their old jewels to which they are sentimentally tied as they might have been passed down by the previous generations.

With her parents, she also trades with gorgeous antique jewelry, some of which are iconic pieces now owned by international museums.

My passion for art history guides my designs which are often inspired by specific historical epochs such as Antique Rome, Napoleon’s empire, the 1920s Art Deco, the 1960s…. Furthermore, each of my design’s names make reference to historical characters such as : Roxane, Eliette, Victorine, Bacchante, Clarence, Apolinia etc…

Perfectionist

My singularity lies in the delicacy of my designs and to the extreme attention I pay to each and every step of their crafting as I personally control the quality of each jewel with my x15 loup. My craftsmen and lapidaries are specialized in the ancestral techniques of milgrain, the cutting of baguette diamonds and caliber cut of color stones as well as their setting without prongs for our Victorine designs.

We use a superior quality of diamonds for an optimal refraction as well as a purer alloy of 18K gold than that used in the trade, for a better quality of setting and a higher resistance.

Environmentally-friendly
jewelry revival

We value the importance of ethics in jewelry, therefore we have specialized in jewelry redesign. By recycling its materials, a second life is given to your jewels.

Conscious of the ethical and environmental impact of metal and precious stone extractions, recycling antique jewelry is a powerful gesture for the planet.

a woman who designs for all women

Each one of my precious designs is intended to be worn by a very special woman hence each basket is custom made to fit perfectly its carefully selected precious center stone. My goal for my rings is that they slip on like a glove and feel like a second skin.
